The Tel Aviv Promenade

By: Inna Yoffe

The Tel Aviv Promenade During the Day Light

Tel-Aviv's promenade, or Tayelet, as it is called in Hebrew, is a beautiful place to walk on along the Mediterranean seashore. During the day you can vividly see the clear blue sky almost identical with the blue-green sea with people frolicking in it and near it playing beach ball and catching some hot Mediterranean sun. You are welcome to join them and get the feeling. There are several beach-side cafes, in case you wish to drink something cool and refreshing after spending some time in the day hit.

Tel-Aviv Promenade at Night

The uniqueness of the Tel-Aviv Promenade is emphasized at night. If you walk on the Tayelet after the sunset, you will see it is pulsating with a night life of a typical coastal city. The heat of the day is replaced by the coolness of the night that brings dozens of Israelis and tourists out to the promenade. Here are also the multiple couples in-love, joggers, elder and younger people, all enjoying the Israeli summer night on Tel-Aviv's promenade.

Cafes and Restaurants at the Tel Aviv Promenade

Israel’s most popular promenade and the numerous cafes along the shore come to life with twilight. Then they are beautifully and cozily lit, as if seducing you into going in to sit near the Mediterranean Sea with a glass of your favorite drink. If you continue walking North on the Tel-Aviv promenade, as Yaffo (i.e., Old Jaffa) and the US Embassy is behind you, you will arrive at a London caf?, where you can enjoy dancing with romantic live songs in the background. If the London Caf? is not your cup of tea, then there are plenty of other cafes, restaurants and bars around.

The other side of the Tel-Aviv promenade is nevertheless as exciting as the one close to the shore. It is the side of the hotels and of various cafes and pubs, such as Metzada, a nice cozy restaurant at which you can relax eating a gourmet meal with a glass of Israeli Cabernet Sauvignon (recommended) and hearing some Jazz music in the background, Mike's Place with live rock music late at night, which you can enjoy with a glass of beer like Guinness or Kilkenny from a barrel.

This is Tel-Aviv's Tayelet, a prominent feature in this non-stop exciting city of Israel. So when you are here, don't forget to spend some time on the promenade to get yet another feel of Tel-Aviv.
